Originally founded in 1994 under the name of "heckel-Therapeutische Infrarot-Systeme", heckel medizintechnik GmbH first established itself as a pioneer of whole-body hyperthermia, producing and distributing the heckel-HT2000 product line.

In 2005 heckel began a strategic partnership with the company Hydrosun Medizintechnik GmbH, known for their experience in the research and manufacture of water-filtered infrared-A radiators.

Together, the two companies developed the infrared whole-body hyperthermia system heckel-HT3000 that has been marketed since December 2007.

This successful cooperation has continued through the development of thermograpy-controlled wIRA superficial hyperthermia, in close cooperation with the Swiss radio-oncologist Dr. Markus Notter of Lindenhofspital Berne. The hydrosun®TWH1500 has been available since July 2017.

Both systems are manufactured by Hydrosun and marketed worldwide exclusively by heckel.
