From January 26-30, 2026, Stefan Heckel-Reusser and Dr. Hüseyin Sahinbas visited the BT Biological Medicine Clinic (BTK) in Baku. The occasion was the delivery of the first heckel-HT3000 whole-body hyperthermia device to Azerbaijan. During the week, five fever-range treatments were conducted jointly with a highly dedicated team of doctors and nurses as part of the training.
Under the leadership of Director Elkhan Yagubov, BTK has successfully introduced integrative medicine to Azerbaijan and now offers a wide range of high-quality naturopathic and integrative therapies to patients with chronic, treatment-resistant illnesses at four locations. Complementary therapies are offered to cancer patients, including the newly added fever-range whole-body hyperthermia.
BTK has established excellent connections to University Medical Centers. Dr. Hüseyin Sahinbas and Stefan Heckel-Reusser had the honor of giving lectures on hyperthermia and other complementary cancer therapies at the National Cancer Centre of Azerbaijan.
That’s where they had a completely unexpected and delightful encounter with Dr. Reiman Ismail-Zade, who over 20 years ago in Minsk, Belarus, pioneered hyperthermia in pediatric oncology and conducted and published his research on extreme whole-body hyperthermia in the treatment of children with renal cell carcinoma, achieving remarkable results. He now heads the Pediatric Oncology Department at the National Cancer Centre Baku.
The discussion continued at a dinner hosted by Mr. Elkhan Yagubov, with numerous participants including the Head of Radiation Oncology and the Head of Medical Oncology.
Dr Hüseyin Sahinbas and Stefan Heckel-Reusser enjoyed indescribable hospitality and are very confident about the further development of hyperthermia in Azerbaijan with this excellent partner.
